Night Vision Camera
Night vision camera is the main component of Home security. If you want to protect your house from bad guys after dark, you should consider a security camera with adequate night vision capabilities. Most modern security cameras have night vision, but understanding what makes a good security camera can help you avoid the green and grainy videos we see everywhere on YouTube. Thanks to a combination of infrared sensors, image quality and a wide field of vision, a good night vision surveillance camera can capture criminal activity in the dark with almost the same clarity as its equivalent.

What is a night vision camera
There are two types of night vision: the one used by most security cameras and the one used by night vision goggles. The most common type used by most security cameras is Infrared Night Vision (IR), based on infrared light.
If you have ever looked at the front of a security camera, you have probably noticed that it is covered with a handful of small LED bulbs. It is an infrared light and when it is dark, these lights come on and act as a light source, which reduces the field of view of the camera with infrared light.
The problem is that the infrared light is invisible to the naked eye. It does not seem that a bright light invades the area from the outside, but it’s true, your eyes just cannot see it.
In addition, night vision images of security cameras always look black and white, because man’s eyes can better differentiate between black and white than other shades of colors. For this reason, most night vision cameras opt for a monochrome filter to allow us to better visualize the image.
We can see many types of light with our eyes, but infrared light (IR) is invisible to the naked eye. Most security cameras with night vision features, are also equipped with an infrared filter. This automatically detects daylight and applies the filter to block infrared light during the day to maintain a true color appearance. As night falls, the filter is automatically removed, allowing more light to enter, including the infrared light from the camera.
Color night vision
There are some manufacturers make high quality CCTV cameras; these qualified outdoor CCTV security cameras offer night vision in color. By default, they offer you black-and-white night vision, but you can change the default settings to apply night vision in color.
Nevertheless, in the security camera market, when we talk about color night vision, the first concept that comes to mind is starlight night vision.
It is true that Starlight Night Vision always produces color images, even in very dimly lit places, thanks to the powerful Starlight image sensor. Thus, if the CCTV outdoor security camera uses a Starlight image sensor, it offers night color vision. Factors to Consider When Choosing a Better IP Night Vision Outdoor Camera
- Quality of the image
High quality CCTV night vision cameras can capture black and white video, as well as color sequences, as I mentioned above. However, the black-and-white night vision of these cameras is still much better than night vision in color in image quality.
If the camera has a starlight image sensor, things would be different. Normally, the starlight image sensor could offer much better color night vision than others.
- Storage space
Color night-vision sequences have more elements than black and white and therefore take up more storage space. Therefore, if storage is a problem, black and white night vision may be a better choice.
- Long-range night vision
Forget, night vision in black and white covers a longer beach than night vision in color. For example, at a distance of 100 feet in the surveillance zone, black-and-white mode can capture clear images, white color mode fails.
The cost of Starlight image sensors is always higher than that of normal sensors. As a result, security cameras equipped with Starlight image sensors may cost a little more than those that are not.

Watch your house with YI Home App. View the YI dome camera with your other family of YI home cameras in an integrated application. Our motion detection algorithm is the security mark of YI Dome Cam. Movements can be accurately captured and activity alerts are immediately sent to the application. 10 seconds, intelligent motion tracking follows everything, so you do not have to.
The image quality is exceptional and always a breeze with these cameras. You may use this guy to keep an eye on the cats, so you may have to be able to move and turn to catch them. The panning and tilting speed is average (it will not follow the cat that hit its afternoon frenzy), but when you have to look at the other end of the room, it does not take not only a second and a half. Like other YiHome indoor cameras, the IR function is poor. So, do not expect optimal nighttime use. This is usually only good about 10 feet.
The YiHome app also has other benefits that this camera does not have. Such as motion tracking that works exceptionally well and automatic cruise functions that allow the camera to go to predefined points of the room you are still watching.
If you know YiHome cameras and need a pan and tilt, this camera will at least meet your expectations in well-lit environments.
Zmodo Wireless Security Camera System
The Zmodo Wireless Security Camera System (pack of 2) is a 2-camera surveillance solution for your home or business. The installation is as simple as downloading the free Zmodo application, creating an account and connecting the cameras to your Wi-Fi network. Once configured, you can view remotely from anywhere with a smartphone, an iPad or a PC. Have peace of mind wherever you are and be warned when something happens.
Zmodo Cloud Service
Both cameras come with a free 30-day cloud service plan. With Cloud Service, you can view, customize, save, share clips, or rewind details of the day in seconds. Motion alert clips are recorded in the cloud for 36 hours.
Smarter night vision
The cameras are equipped with automatic IR LED night vision lamps with a long viewing distance of up to 65 feet. You can monitor your home or business clearly and easily, whether at night or during the day.
Its tightness allows it to stay protected in rainy or sunny weather, with operating temperatures of -10 to 50 ° C. Protect every inch of your home every season.
Works with Alexa
The Zmodo wireless outdoor cameras work with Alexa for voice control. Just ask Alexa to show you the video of the front door by simply saying it if you have an Echo show.
These cameras also have some nice features, such as two-way communication and an Android / iPhone application that allows you to browse each camera individually in a unique and convenient location. The loudspeaker is not the loudest, but if you speak loudly and clearly through your phone’s microphone, you will clearly hear the voice passing through the speaker. Having a round-trip conversation does not work perfectly, because the microphone of the Android / iPhone app is a push button, similar to an old-fashioned walkie-talkie. You may find the camera speaker useful in situations where your children are not near their phone when you try to call.
The web browser application / android / iphone is really great too. You can organize each camera at home and give it a name for the room in which it is located. You can then configure “motion alerts” on the app to send a push notification to your phone whenever the camera detects motion at specific times. of the day. Even if you do not subscribe to any subscription services, but you will be pleasantly surprised to see that these cameras would provide recordings of the last 24 hours. However, the recordings are not real video recordings. These are basically 5-frame snapshots that automatically record when motion is detected. If you look at the “Motion” section of the phone application, you will see the timestamp with a thumbnail of what has been saved. From there you will see the 5 pictures taken by motion alert.
Night vision is adjustable and you can reduce the infrared sensitivity so that night vision in black and white is less easy to photograph and you can still see a color image, even in a dark atmosphere.

Wyze Cam v2 delivers real-time, clear, and fast images directly to your smartphone via the Wyze app (iOS and Android), day or night. In addition, you can add an 8, 16 or 32 GB microSD card (sold separately) to enable continuous recording and schedule fast motion video, and use two-way audio to talk and listen through your Wyze Cam v2. Use the Wyze app to manage and view multiple cameras, share your cameras with other users, view alert videos, save and share photos and videos directly from the app. With its small size, magnetic base and flexible 3-axis design, the Wyze Cam v2 can go wherever you want. The Wyze Cam v2 must be powered (it does not have a battery) and is designed for indoor use (it is not weatherproof).
Incredibly easy setup. Just install the app on your phone, plug in the camera, press a button at the bottom, and then point the camera at a QR code that appears on your phone. Then you are prompted to enter the password for your wifi, and that’s it. It takes literally 1 minute to set up, with no problem with firewalls, routers, ports, etc. Voice prompts, broadcast from the camera’s speaker, guide you through the process. It’s an absolute breeze.
The quality of the image is very good. It seems to me that 720p HD video. On my network, it broadcasts continuously at a high and pleasant pace. There is no jerky low frame video that some of my other cameras give me. The color reproduction is very good.
The camera includes both a microphone and a speaker, allowing you to listen to the camera’s position and / or talk through the camera. Speaker quality is what you expect from an enclosure less than one inch in diameter. But it works! The microphone is much better than any Foscam / Wansview camera I’ve used in the past. On those we should shout to be heard. The Wyze camera captures even the faint sounds of the room.
You would like the magnetic base! You can stick this thing on any ferrous metal surface, and it stays stuck. Right now, mine hangs at the bottom of a ventilation duct in my basement. Just go into the app on the phone, tell him to reverse the photo, and you’re all together! It’s really slippery and it’s something that more camera makers should do.
Motion detection is simple and reliable. It can be set from very sensitive (trigger when my cat crosses the basement) to low sensitivity (my wife has to walk in front). When triggered, a video of about 10 seconds is captured and uploaded to the cloud. An optional push notification is sent to your phone. And you can go into the app and watch the recording.
The night vision mode is decent, but not exceptional. There is a single IR LED for dim lighting. They indicate a night vision range of “up to 30 feet”. This leads him. But 15-20 feet does not seem to be a problem at all. This certainly covers a room without problems.
